Snow, Snow Go Away

...Come again on Christmas day!

Don't know about y'all but I'm ready to bypass spring altogether and just hit the sand running!  Summer… please get here and FAST!

It's March and still snowing!  Being a Texas girl… I don't care how long you've lived somewhere… A Texas girl is never accustomed to cold weather.

It snowed once when I was one year old; I remember--vaguely, but I remember.  And it was the only time I'd experienced snow until I had gone to colorado for a band competition (I played French Horn--and I was damn good at it too!)  But, when I first moved to Nashville, I owned not one single pair of closed toe'd shoes.  And, when it snowed… I was wearing peep-toe'd heels…(yes… peep toe.  Heels.  Heels. Peep toe.  Dumb!)  walking from class back to my dorm room across campus.  Hashtag Miserable!  That's when I had enough and gave in to spending my car insurance money on a pair of boots.  So worth it but I had to work extra hard to come up with my lacking insurance money.

And… driving in the snow… not even gonna go there.  I've got stories for days.

What's your snow story?

Well living in the state right next to you, NC. We have some strange weather over here. We can have snow before Thanksgiving, see green grass starting to grow and butterflies in Jan, yet we may get snow again as late as early April, which is when many young people have already been hitting the beach. So we have it almost as hot as TX in the summer, and temps as low around zero F with neg wind chills. Driving in the snow? Several stories but my earliest memory was the 1977 Corvette after owning it a couple of months. I am cruising along thinking, "I've got all this power and I am passing everyone on the road - this is cool!"- UNTIL I had to stop suddenly when someone put on brakes in front of me. As I came closer and realized I may not stop in time I decided to take the ALTERNATE route - OFF to the right shoulder of soft snow. As my brakes locked and I continued to slide, I realized my steering wheel was useless. Nevertheless as I saw my beautiful corvette skidding directly towards this tree, I held the wheel hard and cried out, "GOD NO!". I came to a smooth, soft landing in a snow covered ditch, BARELY missing the tree as my car slid around. Not a scratch, and a guy in a JEEP wenched me out and back on the road. I gladly paid him $10.
